Painting the Human Figure in Space
This demonstration will show how, from a colorist’s point of view, it is important to consider not only the big masses of the figure as large areas of color, but the color of the background, which is essential to establishing the illusion of space behind the figure. Przewodek will discuss the conventional way of breaking the figure down into boxes, spheres, cylinders, and other simple geometric shapes. Once you analyze the figure in this way, you can visualize these forms more accurately as big masses of color in proper perspective, and more convincingly depict it as a three-dimensional object.
